Sailor`s Rest House - Contact
I sailed across the Atlantic and immigrated in 2012 to enjoy sailing and living on a 70-square-meter 12-meter (38`) sailing catamaran with our guests . We love to explore the numerous dreamy bays, swim and get our dinner ourselves, fishing mackerels and collecting mussels.
After living aboard for a few years I make a rest and renovated our private Sailor`s Rest House with lots of love. You can rent our Hobie Island Adventure sailing kayaks with instructions how to sail and paddle. We love to share our sailing experience with you and give instructions on this

„Sailor’s Rest is a one-of-a-kind piece of paradise. We spent about a month this winter looking for a house on the open ocean in Nova Scotia for our summer vacation and Sailor’s Rest fulfilled our dream. The house is mere feet from the ocean, with uninterrupted views of the ocean, the cove and marine wildlife. It was incredible to settle in at this house to relax and unwind for two weeks. It is a well-furnished and comfortable house with an excellent king-sized bed (the only house with one on the ocean in Nova Scotia/Cape Breton that we could find!). It was great to have a fully functional and stocked kitchen to cook in, along with a brand-new washer and dryer for laundry mid-trip. We spent hours on the front porch watching the ocean, reading and relaxing under the handy outdoor umbrella. When the weather didn’t permit this, we were able to cosy up on the huge couch to watch the storms through the big front window, which was just as lovely. This house is perfect for a couple, as we felt that we had tons of room to really make our own during our stay. It is true that people over about 5’9’’ will have to watch their heads in the doorways, but it is worthy trade-off for the gorgeous location. As another reviewer pointed out, yes, there are quite a few house “rules”, but they aren’t as daunting as they seem and are there to ensure this beautiful historic house continues to be in great shape for many years to come. It is important to understand that this place has some quirks, but this is part of staying in such a unique location and house! Robert and Monika are fantastic hosts and were available to help out with any questions we had, or to make suggestions about various activities in the area. We cannot recommend this place highly enough to anyone looking for the ultimate getaway.“

„Thank you again, Robert and Monika, for a beautiful stay!“

„My friends and I had a wonderful experience staying at Robert's Sailor's Rest. It's a small cottage off the beaten path and overlooks Samson's Cove. Great for privacy or a quiet retreat. The hosts were very welcoming and patiently answered all our questions about the area. Full functioning kitchen (important to our group of four adults) and very comfortable eating in or out on the deck that overlooks the ocean. For those who are over 6 feet tall, take note of low doorways/beams throughout. The rules list, as we suspected, is not as daunting as it seems - the hosts clearly care about their space and want to keep it looking nice. We would return in a heartbeat!“

Here some reviews from AirBnB:

I've stayed in over 40 AirBnBs now globally, and I must say, that Sailor´s Rest home in Sampson Cove is close to the best. Such a gorgeous location overlooking the waves lapping at the shore, and I could stare out over their back lawn at the sunrise/sunsets all day. Robert communicated often and got us prepped for the visit. You'll enjoy exploring the island, plenty of options for kayaking, some fun local eateries, and great walks around the area. Very highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Sailors rest, the house is in a beautiful location, overlooking the sea at Samsons cove. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, we were made to feel welcome by the neighbours in the cove. We saw lots of wildlife including, Bald eagles, sea otters with young catching fish in the cove, hummingbird and seals. Thank you Robert for being so welcoming.

The Sailor`s Rest House is exactly according the description and is equipped with all the things you need for a pleasant and wonderful stay. The house is very tastefully decorated with maritime art. The magnificent location right on the Atlantic is simply not to beat. From almost all the windows you can enjoy the glitter of the blue Atlantic. We loved the relaxing on the terrace, listening to the waves and the smell of the sea - simply fantastic. Excellent seafood is daily available in the lively fishing port and next to a small shop around the corner is even a supermarket within a few minutes. You do not have to leave the island at all ....
Owners are very nice and answer promptly. Thank you very much and we will definitely spend our next holiday in Sailor`s Rest again. We will be back!

Weather wasn't great so we didn't spend a lot of time outdoors other than to go on day trips. As a result we spent a lot of time in the house. We found it to be clean, bright, comfortable, minimalist and a little quirky but more than adequate for a very relaxing vacation for two. Superb location for which the description and pictures tell the story. Enjoyed watching the lobster fishermen working their traps each morning right out the front window. Great coastal walks (not necessarily easy) if so inclined. Enjoyed our limited experience of the surrounding communities and found people friendly. As a result of the weather didn't see much of the adjacent neighbours. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.
